This year, the NFL Grassroots initiative awarded $2.5 million in grants for renovation or construction of football fields throughout the nation. Algiers is very fortunate to be in that number! The New Orleans Saints recently presented a $200,000 check to AEDF for field enhancements to the football and soccer field at Behrman stadium, which is the only public entity of its kind on the west bank of Orleans Parish. AEDF is working closely with the NFL, New Orleans Saints, Local Initiatives Support Corporation, the City of New Orleans, NORD and the New Orleans City Council to coordinate the project, which is the result of a strong partnership between AEDF, New Orleans City Councilmember Kristin G. Palmer—District C and New Orleans City Council President Jacquelyn Clarkson.
