(New Orleans, LA—Tuesday, November 8, 2011)—The Algiers Economic Development Foundation (AEDF) was recently recognized for its collaboration with the City of New Orleans during the Neighborhoods Partnership Network’s (NPN) 2011 Trumpet Awards. NPN/Trumpet bestowed AEDF with the Best City -Neighborhood Partnership honor in light of AEDF’s recent receipt of a $200,000 grant from the NFL/LISC Grassroots Initiative, which is funding field and drainage enhancements at Behrman Football Stadium in Algiers. AEDF received the grant earlier this year and is administering the award in close collaboration with New Orleans City Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer, District C, New Orleans Council President Jacquelyn Brechtel Clarkson, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and the City of New Orleans, NORDC, NFL/ LISC and the New Orleans Saints.
“It is an organizational tenet to serve as a conduit between the business community and the community at large, so it is truly an honor to be recognized in this capacity,” said AEDF Executive Director Barbara Waiters.
AEDF President Christopher Kane said, “We are honored to work with our various partners to foster strong partnerships and initiatives that are driving economic and community development in Algiers. We believe that our commitment to work together epitomizes the effort required to bring full restoration to our neighborhoods, city and region.”
