After reports last week that United Churches of Algiers’ food bank had to close because its shelves were bare collection boxes will be placed in businesses around Algiers Point, and there will be a collection box at all remaining Wednesdays on the Point free summer concerts to collect food.

Five years after Katrina severely damaged the Algiers Central Library, recovery began recently. A onlookers applauded, demolition crews began tearing down the old Algiers Public Library.
